The Blind Side Star Quinton Aaron Says He Cut Off Wife After Discovering She Was Still Married to Another Man

The Blind Side actor Quinton Aaron says he has had no contact with Margarita DeLeon, the woman he believed was his wife, since discovering an extraordinary detail about her marital status while dealing with a serious health crisis.

Aaron, 42, revealed that after suffering a spinal stroke and pulmonary embolism in January and spending four days in a coma, he learned that DeLeon was apparently still legally married to another man. Aaron and DeLeon had held their own wedding in December 2024, and the actor says he entered that relationship believing she had been divorced for more than a decade.

The discovery left Aaron feeling that he needed to remove DeLeon from his life entirely.

“I don’t need to speak to her ever again,” he told Us Weekly in an interview published Aug. 19.

Aaron Says He Believed DeLeon Was Divorced

According to Aaron, there had been no uncertainty in his mind about DeLeon’s relationship status when they became involved.

He said he “absolutely” believed she was legally divorced and insisted he would never knowingly pursue a relationship with a married woman.

“We would’ve never spoken if I knew she was married,” Aaron told the outlet. “I’m not the type of person that messes with married women. She kept telling me she was divorced for 10-plus years.”

Aaron and DeLeon eventually tied the knot in December 2024. However, he later learned that she was apparently still legally married to Eric Guzman, whom she had married in 1992.

The revelation meant Aaron and DeLeon’s marriage was not legally valid.

For Aaron, the news arrived during an already frightening period in his life.

A Four-Day Coma Followed a Serious Medical Emergency

In January, Aaron suffered a spinal stroke and pulmonary embolism, medical emergencies that resulted in him being hospitalized and placed in a coma for four days.

While recovering, Aaron learned about the unresolved marriage involving DeLeon and Guzman.

His memories of DeLeon during the hospitalization are limited because of the severity of his condition.

Aaron said the last time they were effectively together was when he was taken to the hospital.

“[Not] since the day we went to the hospital,” he said when asked whether they had spoken.

He recalled occasionally being aware that DeLeon was in his hospital room, but communication was effectively impossible because he was moving in and out of consciousness and had been intubated.

“There were times I remember seeing her in the room, but I was in and out of consciousness, and I didn’t speak to her because I was intubated,” Aaron explained.

Following the discovery about her legal marriage, he decided that maintaining a relationship with her was no longer something he wanted.

DeLeon Said She Did Not Know She Was Still Married

The situation became more complicated when DeLeon offered her version of events.

In an April interview with ABC News, DeLeon said she “wasn’t aware” that she remained legally married.

Her estranged husband, Eric Guzman, also told the outlet that he believed their divorce paperwork had been successfully completed years earlier.

According to Guzman, he had operated under the impression that the marriage was already legally over. After discovering otherwise, he said he had filed for divorce.

That account presents the situation as a possible failure to complete or finalize the earlier legal process rather than an intentional attempt by DeLeon to conceal an active marriage.

Aaron, however, has made clear that the discovery fundamentally changed his relationship with her.

After learning what had happened, he said he “needed to completely remove” DeLeon from his life.

E! News reported that it had not been able to reach DeLeon for additional comment regarding Aaron’s latest statements.

Aaron Says Their Marriage Was Legally Voided

One of the major questions surrounding the unusual situation was what Aaron would have to do legally to end his marriage to DeLeon.

According to the actor, the answer turned out to be relatively straightforward.

Because DeLeon was still legally married to another person, Aaron says his marriage to her was not legally recognized in the first place.

“Thankfully, the marriage was voided,” Aaron explained. “I didn’t need to annul it because we weren’t legally married.”

For Aaron, that eliminated the need to go through a conventional divorce or annulment process.

“I dodged a bullet there,” he added.

Although he has described his feelings about the situation clearly, Aaron says he is now trying to leave the episode behind rather than continue the conflict.

He Says He Does Not Plan to Reconnect

Months after the hospitalization and relationship breakdown, Aaron appears firm about maintaining his distance.

His statement that he does not need to speak with DeLeon again suggests he considers the relationship permanently finished.

Still, Aaron stopped short of expressing hostility toward her future.

“I really do wish her well,” he said. “I hope she gets the help she needs.”

His comments reflect an attempt to close an especially turbulent chapter that combined two major crises at almost exactly the same time: a potentially devastating medical emergency and the collapse of a relationship he had believed was a legal marriage.

For Aaron, recovering physically has consequently occurred alongside adjusting to a dramatically changed personal life.

Aaron Became Famous Through The Blind Side

Aaron remains best known for playing Michael Oher in the 2009 sports drama The Blind Side.

The movie, which also starred Sandra Bullock, became a major box-office success and brought Aaron widespread recognition.

His portrayal of Oher placed him at the center of the film’s story, which followed the future NFL player’s relationship with the Tuohy family and his development as a football prospect.

More than 15 years later, Aaron’s connection to the movie remains a defining part of his public profile.

His recent health problems, however, have shifted attention toward his life away from acting.

A Health Crisis and Marriage Shock at the Same Time

The timing of the discovery made the situation particularly difficult.

Aaron was not simply dealing with an unexpected relationship revelation under normal circumstances. He had just experienced a spinal stroke and pulmonary embolism serious enough to leave him unconscious for days.

Waking from a four-day coma meant beginning a difficult physical recovery while simultaneously learning that the woman he believed he had legally married was apparently still married to someone else.

DeLeon and Guzman have both indicated that they believed their earlier divorce had already been completed, meaning their account differs significantly from any suggestion that the existing marriage was deliberately hidden.

Aaron nevertheless says he had been explicitly led to believe that DeLeon had been divorced for more than 10 years.

For him, that distinction has not changed his decision.

Aaron Is Focused on Moving Forward

Aaron’s latest comments indicate that he has no intention of reopening the relationship or seeking further personal explanations from DeLeon.

Instead, his priority appears to be recovery and moving forward.

The legal situation has also given him a relatively clean break. Because his marriage to DeLeon was considered invalid, he says he did not have to pursue an annulment or divorce.

What began as a marriage in December 2024 therefore ended under circumstances Aaron could hardly have anticipated.

Within weeks, the actor faced a life-threatening health emergency, spent four days in a coma and discovered that the marriage he thought he had entered was not legally valid.

Now, months later, Aaron says the separation is complete not only legally but personally.

He has not spoken with DeLeon since the hospitalization, says he does not expect to speak with her again and is concentrating on the next stage of his life.

Despite everything that happened, his final message toward his former partner remains relatively simple: he wishes her well — but intends to move forward without her.
