Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke Embrace Single Life Together Nearly Three Years After Their Broken Engagement

Nearly three years after calling off their engagement, Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke have reached an unexpected new chapter in their relationship: helping each other navigate being single.

The longtime Summer House stars, whose friendship eventually turned into romance before ending in a highly publicized split, tell PEOPLE that they are now in a much healthier place. Rather than avoiding conversations about dating, the former couple are supporting one another, exchanging advice and even trying to help each other meet new people.

“We’re trying to help wingman [for each other] too,” Radke, 41, said while speaking to PEOPLE at the Television Academy’s Televerse Festival on Friday, Aug. 15.

“Yeah, a little bit,” Hubbard, 40, agreed. “I’ve given advice along the way.”

For Radke, their current dynamic is about “celebrating each other’s singleness” and genuinely wanting the other person to find happiness.

“I want her to be respected and find someone and have fun and be treated well,” he said of Hubbard.

Radke added that because he still cares about his former fiancée, he would naturally be interested in the kind of person she eventually dates.

“And, like, of course I care about whoever that is, so I’m going to be there to be supportive,” he explained.

He then jokingly issued a warning to any future boyfriend who fails to treat Hubbard properly.

“And if he f—s up, we’ll have some words with him,” Radke joked.

“Yeah, exactly. Don’t f— up,” Hubbard responded.

From Friends to Fiancés — and Back Again

Hubbard and Radke’s complicated history stretches back nearly a decade.

The pair first met while filming the inaugural season of Bravo’s Summer House in 2016. Their relationship was initially platonic, and they developed a close friendship while navigating life in New York City and summers in the Hamptons.

They briefly experimented with dating during the show’s fourth season, but ultimately decided they were better suited as friends.

That changed again in 2021, when they rekindled their romantic relationship.

The relationship became increasingly serious. They moved in together, and Hubbard supported Radke as he continued his sobriety journey. During the same period, Hubbard was dealing with major decisions about her own future, including choosing to freeze her eggs.

In August 2022, Radke proposed to Hubbard in Southampton. The romantic engagement was filmed for Summer House and later appeared during season 7.

The couple began planning their wedding, but their relationship came to a dramatic end the following year.

In September 2023, only months before they were scheduled to marry, Radke called off the wedding.

In a letter sent to friends and family and obtained by PEOPLE at the time, Radke said Hubbard was “devastated” and that he was “crushed with how all this transpired.”

Their breakup quickly became one of the biggest storylines surrounding Summer House.

A Healthier Relationship Today

Given the emotional nature of their split, their current friendship represents a significant change.

Radke said being able to communicate openly with Hubbard now means a great deal to him because of their long shared history.

“I care a lot about this person,” he said. “She’s been in my life for a long time, and the fact that we’re where we are right now, it means a lot to me.”

He described their current relationship as “healthy” and said he is genuinely enjoying this stage of their friendship.

“And I love the chapter that we’re on right now,” Radke continued. “For real.”

“We’re enjoying it,” Hubbard agreed. “It’s been really fun.”

The former couple are currently filming season 11 of Summer House, and their improved relationship is expected to be part of the new season.

Neither Has Ever Used a Dating App

As Hubbard and Radke begin dating again, they have discovered another thing they still have in common: neither of them has ever used a dating app.

“I never have,” Radke insisted.

“I never have either,” Hubbard said. “We’re not dating app people.”

Radke believes social media — particularly Instagram — already serves many of the same purposes as traditional dating apps.

“I feel like Instagram is the dating app,” he said.

According to Radke, people on dating apps often ultimately try to find someone’s Instagram account and phone number anyway.

“So why don’t you just start with Instagram?” he joked.

Their reality television fame has naturally resulted in plenty of people contacting them through direct messages over the years.

“Yeah, I mean, we always have been,” Radke said when asked about people sliding into their DMs. “Some of the DM sliding has definitely — it’s been a thing with our show for a while.”

Radke admitted that during the earlier years of Summer House, he sometimes entertained those messages.

These days, however, he would prefer meeting someone more naturally.

“I’d rather meet someone organically or through a mutual friend or just in our life,” he explained.

Hubbard Is Feeling Like Herself Again After Becoming a Mom

Hubbard’s return to dating comes after an especially transformative period in her personal life.

She welcomed her daughter, Gemma Kufe, on December 8, 2024, with her former partner, a biotech investor.

Hubbard and Kufe later split in early 2025, roughly five months before their separation became public.

The Summer House star explained that she did not immediately feel ready to fully embrace her social life after becoming a mother.

“I didn’t really feel back in my body and myself until, like, March or April of this year for a million different reasons,” Hubbard said.

She described the previous year as overwhelming.

“Last year was just, like, a lot,” she explained. “There was a lot going on. I was very busy. I was stressed out. There were two TV shows. I was trying to be a new mom… [and]… postpartum.”

Hubbard said she is normally an extremely confident person, but the demands of pregnancy, motherhood, television production and major changes in her personal life affected how she felt.

She said she was not truly feeling “100, 100%” until the spring.

Then, around March or April, something changed.

“All right. And I’m back. Watch out,” she recalled thinking.

Season 11 Brings a Major First for the Cast

Hubbard and Radke will not be the only Summer House cast members exploring single life during the upcoming season.

According to Radke, every member of their longtime friend group is currently single, something he says has never happened before.

“For the first time in the history of our group, we are all single, which is kind of crazy,” he said.

“There’s always been someone who’s got something going on with a relationship, but it’s a new chapter.”

The situation immediately reminded Hubbard of something Kyle Cooke said during the first season of the show.

“Oh my God, remember when Kyle was like, ‘No couples. Rule number one: no couples in the Summer House’?” Hubbard recalled.

At the time, Cooke was referring partly to Hubbard and her then-boyfriend Everett Weston.

Radke remembered the moment as well.

“There’s a clip that I’m sure someone could find, but Kyle basically was in his green-screen interview and he’s like, ‘No couples in the Summer House,’” he said.

Nearly a decade later, that original idea may finally become reality.

“Trust me, it’s fun,” Radke teased. “There’s a lot going on, and singles should be fun, and it is. Season 11 will be fun.”

New House, New Castmates and a Below Deck Crossover

The cast’s dating lives will not be the only major change coming to season 11.

Hubbard and Radke teased several developments, including Hubbard’s 40th birthday celebration, a completely new house and new members joining the group.

The cast also participated in its first-ever group trip connected to a Below Deck crossover.

“We have new castmates. We have new friends joining the house,” Hubbard said. “I mean, it’s gonna be a really good season.”

Radke was equally enthusiastic.

“It’s a really good summer, a really good season, and there’s already been some really good stuff,” he said.

For both Hubbard and Radke, however, perhaps the biggest change is their ability to finally move beyond the painful aftermath of their engagement.

“We needed to move on from all of that,” Radke said, “and I think we’re doing a really good job so far.”

“Exactly,” Hubbard agreed.

After years of friendship, romance, an engagement and an emotionally difficult breakup, Hubbard and Radke now appear to have found their way back to the foundation of their original relationship — friendship.

This time, instead of planning a wedding together, they are encouraging each other to meet someone new.
