Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa Surprise Daughter Taylor with $150,000 BMW Ahead of Her 16th Birthday

Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa teamed up for an unforgettable surprise for their teenage daughter, Taylor, giving her an extravagant new car as she prepares to turn 16 and take another major step toward independence.

On Thursday, Aug. 13, the former couple joined forces with Tarek’s wife, Heather El Moussa, to surprise 15-year-old Taylor with a light blue BMW X5 M reportedly worth around $150,000.

The family shared the emotional moment in a video posted on Instagram, showing Taylor in the middle of what appeared to be an ordinary driving lesson with her father before the surprise was revealed.

At the beginning of the clip, Taylor could be seen practicing behind the wheel in an empty parking lot while Tarek sat beside her, helping her build confidence as a young driver.

Then the unexpected happened.

Christina and Heather drove into the parking lot in the luxury BMW, which had been decorated with a large pink bow. Taylor quickly realized the vehicle was meant for her, turning an everyday driving lesson into an early 16th-birthday celebration.

Heather joked about the unusual family collaboration in the caption accompanying the video.

“What’s more of a surprise… the car for Taylor or the fact that the three of us actually pulled this off? 😂,” she wrote.

She added that Taylor deserved the gift and expressed how much the entire family loved her.

“The car is so well deserved, we love you so much Tay,” Heather wrote.

Taylor Is Already Learning to Drive

The luxury vehicle arrives as Taylor continues preparing for the responsibilities that come with becoming a licensed driver.

Back in March, Christina proudly revealed that her daughter had officially received her learner’s permit.

The HGTV personality shared several moments from the milestone on Instagram Stories, including footage of Taylor having her photograph taken for the permit.

“Omg our girl has a driving permit!!!” Christina wrote at the time, tagging both Tarek and Heather in the post.

Another video showed Taylor getting practical experience behind the wheel.

In the clip, the teenager drove the family’s black Tesla out of a driveway while Tarek sat in the passenger seat beside her.

For Christina, watching her eldest child become old enough to drive was clearly an emotional milestone.

“I can’t believe we have a driver. 🥲,” she wrote.

The latest surprise suggests Taylor will now have an impressive vehicle waiting for her as she moves closer to obtaining her full driver’s license.

Christina and Tarek Continue Co-Parenting Their Children

Christina and Tarek were previously married and share two children together: Taylor and 10-year-old son Brayden.

Although their marriage ended years ago, the former couple have continued navigating major family milestones together.

Tarek has since married Heather El Moussa, while Christina is also raising her youngest son, Hudson, 6, whom she shares with former husband Ant Anstead.

The blended family has periodically shown that they can come together when it comes to celebrating their children, particularly Taylor and Brayden.

That was evident during Taylor’s previous birthday celebration.

Last September, when Taylor turned 15, Christina shared a family photograph showing several members of their blended family gathered together for the occasion.

In the picture, Christina wore a black tank top and matching black skirt while standing with her arm around Taylor, who wore a pink minidress.

Christina’s boyfriend, Christopher Larocca, also appeared in the family photograph. He stood beside Christina and had his arm around Brayden.

Hudson could be seen smiling while Brayden hugged him.

On Taylor’s other side stood Heather, who smiled next to her stepdaughter. Tarek was positioned at the end of the group while holding his young son Tristan, whom he shares with Heather.

“Celebrating our girl. 🤍,” Christina wrote over the photograph.

The image offered another glimpse of how the family has continued gathering for important moments despite the complicated relationship history among the adults.

A Summer Filled with Family Time

Taylor’s elaborate birthday surprise comes after Christina shared glimpses into another family-centered summer.

On Tuesday, Aug. 4, the HGTV star posted photographs from what she described as a “summertime staycation” at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, California.

The Instagram carousel was accompanied by Zach Bryan’s rendition of “You Are My Sunshine” and featured several photographs capturing the family enjoying the coastal resort.

In the first image, Christina stood with her arms around her youngest son, Hudson, outside the resort’s Coliseum Pool.

She wore a pink two-piece bikini with a coordinating cover-up and a white trucker hat promoting her champagne brand, Clé Cachée.

Another photograph showed Taylor and Brayden smiling together in front of a muted sunset, offering another look at the close bond between Christina’s two older children.

The vacation also included Christopher Larocca.

Christina posted a couple’s photograph of herself and Larocca posing outside the resort. She wore a chevron-patterned crochet dress, while Larocca kept his look casual in a black T-shirt and jeans.

Larocca, 53, is the CEO and president of Network Connex.

Christina and Larocca became Instagram official in February 2025 after reportedly dating for several months before making their relationship public.

During the resort stay, Christina continued sharing moments through Instagram Stories.

One video showed her pouring a glass of her Clé Cachée champagne before taking a sip beside the pool.

She jokingly praised the California resort as a convenient alternative to a longer tropical vacation.

“Who needs to fly alllll the way to Hawaii when you have @pelicanhillresort,” she wrote.

Taylor Approaches a Major Milestone

For Christina and Tarek, Taylor’s upcoming 16th birthday represents much more than another family celebration.

Their eldest child is now approaching an age traditionally associated with greater independence, including learning to drive and eventually getting her license.

From proudly documenting Taylor receiving her learner’s permit to practicing behind the wheel with Tarek, both parents have openly celebrated the transition.

Now, they have taken that celebration to another level.
