Christy Knowings, the actress and comedian best known for her work on Nickelodeon’s beloved sketch comedy series All That, has died at the age of 46, according to a report citing a member of her family.

TMZ reported on Thursday, Aug. 13, that Knowings died on Tuesday, Aug. 11, after suffering what the outlet described as a serious asthma attack several days earlier. According to an unnamed family member who spoke with TMZ, Knowings experienced the medical emergency on Friday, Aug. 7, and was subsequently hospitalized in the Los Angeles area.

The family member told the outlet that Knowings was placed on life support while receiving treatment at the hospital. She remained hospitalized for several days before her death on Aug. 11.

News of her death quickly prompted an emotional response from those who had worked alongside her, including her former All That castmate Kenan Thompson.

Thompson, 48, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram after learning of Knowings’ death, expressing both shock and grief over losing someone he remembered as a close friend and talented comedian.

“Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!!” Thompson wrote.

He continued by sending his support to Knowings’ loved ones while remembering her personality and comedic talent.

“Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!” he added.
