Teddi Mellencamp Reveals ‘Valley Guy’ Is PJ Conley as She Makes New Romance Instagram Official

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 45, shared the relationship publicly on Tuesday, Aug. 11, posting a carousel of photos and videos from the family gathering.

The evening represented a significant step for Mellencamp and Conley because it marked the first time he met several important people in her life, including her father, legendary musician John Mellencamp, her children and even her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave.

Mellencamp began her Instagram carousel with a video showing herself surrounded by family members and friends before eventually introducing Conley, whose identity she had previously kept relatively private.

On her podcast, Two Ts in a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge, she had repeatedly referred to him simply as “Valley Guy.”

Conley works as a financial benefit analyst, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Mellencamp’s Instagram post also included a selfie of the couple and several other photographs from John Mellencamp’s concert.

She added a playful caption referencing both her age and her famous father.

“First he met a cougar. Then he met The Cougs,” she wrote, adding, “#valleyguy aka PJ @pjconleyy #iykyk @two.ts.inapod.”

Mellencamp also thanked everyone who attended the concert to support her father.

“Thanks to everyone who came out to support @johnmellencamp last night,” she continued. “It was incredible seeing everyone have the time of their lives.”

The following day, Wednesday, Aug. 12, Mellencamp provided more details about the relationship during an episode of Two Ts in a Pod, which she co-hosts with fellow reality personality Tamra Judge.

Mellencamp explained that she had previously avoided using Conley’s real name publicly because his family did not yet know about the relationship.

Now that both sides were aware of the romance, she felt more comfortable revealing his identity.

Still, Mellencamp joked that the “Valley Guy” nickname might be impossible to retire.

“Yeah, I don’t think we could change his name to his real name,” she said. “I think he’s got to just stay the Valley Guy forever.”

She then acknowledged that the nickname is not entirely geographically accurate.

“I mean, he’s not from this valley, but like his hometown has a valley in it, so it still counts,” she joked.

Judge quickly gave Conley her approval.

“He’s cute!” she told Mellencamp.

“Isn’t he cute?” Mellencamp replied.

Judge added that Conley appeared approachable and friendly.

“He’s got a nice face, and he looks like he’s a nice guy,” she said.

Mellencamp agreed, emphasizing that Conley’s personality helped him fit naturally into the family gathering.

“He’s funny,” she said. “He got along effortlessly with the fam, like my brothers, my sisters, my dad.”

His introduction to John Mellencamp, however, apparently involved some temporary confusion.

Teddi initially introduced Conley to her father as merely a friend, rather than immediately identifying him as her boyfriend.

Because the concert involved a large group of people coming and going, the singer did not initially appear to recognize the importance of the introduction.

The following day, however, John made it clear that he had figured out what was happening.

Mellencamp recalled her father confronting her about the intentionally casual introduction.

“Yesterday my dad comes over, and he’s like … ‘Are you gonna try not to tell me that was your guy that you introduced me to?’ ” she said, laughing.

According to Teddi, her father then teased her for thinking she could quietly introduce a new boyfriend without him noticing.

“He’s like, ‘Really? You thought you were just gonna slip that one in?’ ”

The playful exchange suggested that Conley’s introduction went smoothly, with Mellencamp saying he connected easily with her father, siblings and other family members.

The public debut comes during a period of major personal transition for Mellencamp.

She filed for divorce from Edwin Arroyave in November 2024, ending their marriage after approximately 13 years.

Mellencamp and Arroyave share three children: daughter Slate, 13, son Cruz, 11, and daughter Dove, 6.

Despite their separation, Arroyave was among the family members present during the evening when Conley was introduced, making the gathering a notable moment in Mellencamp’s evolving personal life.

Her new relationship also comes amid an extraordinarily difficult health journey.

Mellencamp was diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022 and subsequently underwent extensive treatment.

Over the years, she has been open about her cancer experience, sharing updates with followers and encouraging people to pay attention to changes in their skin and seek medical evaluations when necessary.

She ultimately underwent 17 surgeries related to the invasive skin cancer.

Then, in April 2025, Mellencamp revealed that the melanoma had metastasized to her brain and lungs.

Doctors discovered additional tumors, forcing her to undergo major treatment, including brain surgery to remove tumors.

She later began regular immunotherapy treatments as doctors continued monitoring her condition.

In October 2025, Mellencamp shared a major positive health update when doctors told her that testing showed “no trace of cancer.”

However, she made an important distinction at the time, explaining that she was still not officially considered in remission and would continue undergoing medical monitoring and treatment.

Her cancer journey has also affected her appearance, particularly after surgery and treatment.

Only days before announcing her relationship with Conley, Mellencamp posted a playful Instagram video showing several of her favorite wigs while discussing how her natural hair continued to grow back.

Rather than avoiding the physical changes associated with treatment, she has frequently discussed them publicly and used humor while documenting different stages of her recovery.

Against that backdrop, the decision to reveal her new relationship represents another personal milestone.

Mellencamp first became widely known after joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2017.

She remained on the Bravo reality series for three seasons before confirming her departure in 2020.

Even after leaving the show, she remained connected to the Bravo universe through podcasting, reality television commentary and friendships with other former and current Housewives.
