HIGHEST PAID vs BEST PLAYER of Every NFL Season Since 2015

When it comes to the highest paid player versus best player of every season since 2015, let’s see how they stack up against each other.

 In the battle in 2015, it involved someone who made one of the most iconic plays of all time. And Superman. First, Aaron Rodgers was coming off a crazy year where he dominated so hard he won MVP and was highest paid making 22 million. So, it seemed like he’d once again be the best. But, as he was leading his squad to a 6-0 start while throwing plenty of touchdowns with like no interceptions, another star, Cam Newton, was front-flipping over his ops, dominating teams, then whipping out his Superman celebration. And ironically, he helped

beat Rodgers’ Packers. That must have stunned them. Cuz afterwards, the Packers kept losing games. But, Rodgers tried carrying them and maintaining being the best player, especially after he did something that got its own nickname, where with no time remaining and only one chance to win or lose, Rodgers launched one of the craziest and longest throws of all time.

>> In the end zone, it is caught for the win! >> Yeah, the miracle in Motown was iconic. But, one play, that did not compare to what Cam was doing. This man won 14 games in a row while throwing 30 touchdowns and rushing in 10 more, the first player to ever do that. So, it was obvious. Cam became MVP and was officially the first best player.

 But, not every season is going to be that easy, especially during the next year that involved completely different players and was unlike anything NFL fans expected. Andrew Luck had just signed a deal worth 24 million dollars a year, making him the richest player in the entire NFL, which was kind of ridiculous cuz his body had just gotten destroyed where he barely played seven games the previous year.

 Now, he did come in slinging touchdown after touchdown till he had over 31 and threw for over 4,000 yards, which sounds insane. But, while Luck was putting up those numbers, his Colts were barely winning games. And a guy from the last place  that anyone was looking started taking over the whole league.

 Matt Ryan, who just missed the playoffs three years  in a row, came back slinging bombs like a completely different player. He turned the Falcons into the highest-scoring offense in the NFL while throwing 38 touchdowns to only seven picks and put up one of the best seasons of all time. So, while Luck and his $24 million went 8 and 7 and booked an early trip to Cancun, Matt Ryan ran away with MVP and carried his squad to the Super Bowl.

 But the next season had a player who set a world record going up against an old man? Let me explain. Matt Stafford cashed in a new deal paying him $27 million a year, making him set a record at the time as the highest-paid player in NFL history. And he proved why in week one when he instantly started throwing hell of touchdowns.

 But while Stafford was making play after play, eventually racking up nearly 4,500 yards, the Lions were still playing like ass. And at the same time, a 40-year-old was reminding everyone who the goat really was. Tom Brady, who was at an age most quarterbacks are washed, went completely nuclear. He balled out until he led the entire NFL in plenty of passing categories and carried New England to the number one seed, which made him the oldest player to ever win MVP.

 While Stafford and his huge contract finished 9 and 7 and missed the playoffs, Brady made it to another Super Bowl. So, yeah, he was the best of 2017. But things completely changed the next season. And it involved a player that nobody saw coming. Cuz even though Aaron Rodgers was fresh off a new deal worth $33 million a year, and man backed it up throwing for almost 4,500 yards with just two picks the whole season, the lowest interception rate in NFL history, all that couldn’t save Green Bay.

 Cuz the Packers stunk it up with loss after loss, and at the same time, a kid making his first ever start was turning the whole league into a video game. You know who I’m talking about. Patrick Mahomes. He was slinging passes like this, this, and even this. We’re talking about a dude who completely nuked the Steelers in his second game ever.

 But not only that, this man kept that same energy all year, throwing six more touchdowns in one of the biggest shootouts in NFL history. He even finished the season with over 5,000 yd and 50 touchdowns. And while Rodgers literally got his coach fired for missing the playoffs, a kid on a rookie contract shocked the world and became the youngest player to win MVP since legend Dan Marino.

 So, yeah, he was clearly the best player. But this next season wasn’t just about two players we haven’t seen yet. It had a young star embarrass a legend. Russell Wilson started the season at the top while getting paid 35 million. And well, dude earned every cent while carrying Seattle on his own, balling out without a single interception through the first six games.

 But things changed in week seven cuz Lamar Jackson matched up with Wilson and absolutely embarrassed him, rushing for over 100 yd and a touchdown. While Wilson threw his first pick of the entire year and got blown out. From there, Lamar turned into one of the most unguardable weapons in football while running for over 1,000 yd, something only Michael Vick had ever done as a QB.

Then, he led the Ravens with the best record in the league and the first offense ever to average 200 yd passing and 200 rushing a game. >> Uh do you think you uh you proved to people that you were throwing the ball better? >> Probably not. Not bad for a running back. >> So, while Wilson was the highest-paid and had a good year, Lamar won MVP unanimously at just 22 years old, making him the best player of 2019.

 But all right, all right, all right, enough about quarterbacks cuz a lot of the time players in other positions actually became the best like in 2020. Cuz even though Patrick Mahomes was awarded the biggest contract in sports history, a half-a-billion-dollar deal worth 45 million a year, he of course picked up right where he left off starting the season 4 and 0 with 11 touchdowns.

 While it seemed like he was the highest-paid and best player already. The most dominant player in football that year never even threw a pass. He denied them. Aaron Donald wasn’t just unblockable. This superhuman got his fourth straight season with double-digit sacks and even damn near won a game basically by himself when he got four sacks on Washington.

 Man was making such impossible plays and he didn’t even need to wear this to make them. So, even though Mahomes was the face of the league and dragged the Chiefs to another Super Bowl, Donald wrecked entire games, led the league in pressures while getting double and triple-teamed every single snap, won his third Defensive Player of the Year in only four years, and that made him not just the best of 2020.

 He was now considered one of the best defenders the sport had ever seen. But, Kermit, I mean, Mahomes was going to have a chance of redemption during the next season cuz he was still the highest-paid player making 45 million and dude wanted to prove why he could be the best player again.

 From throwing passes all over the field, racking up nearly 4,900 yards with 37 touchdowns, to making crazy throws look easy and winning games, while Mahomes was doing his thing, a receiver was having the most ridiculous season anyone had ever seen. Cooper Kupp came out of absolutely nowhere and was dominating like no matter who guarded him, he could not be covered.

 This man scored two touchdowns in a game not once, not  twice, but five different times, then led the entire league in catches, yards,  and touchdowns, something only a handful of players had ever done. Then after that, in the playoffs, Mahomes was down three with just 13 seconds left and pulled off a comeback so crazy it didn’t feel real.

But, while he kept winning, Kupp also kept going off, dropping nearly 500 yards and six scores to drag the Rams all the way to the Super Bowl where he eventually won a championship. So, even though Mahomes was still the best quarterback by a mile, Kupp put up maybe the greatest offensive season in NFL history.

 We’re talking about an Offensive Player of the Year, Triple Crown, and Super Bowl MVP? Yes,  I’m going to give it to him this year, but this next season was about to be a movie. Well, kind of, cuz Aaron Rodgers stepped in looking like Nicholas Cage after he had just signed a deal worth $50 million a year, making him the new highest-paid player in NFL history.

 But, it seemed like for the first time, not only did his age catch up to him, he threw his most interceptions and had his first losing season in over a decade, where his squad missed the playoffs, which nobody saw coming. But, while it looked like Rodgers was declining, Patrick Mahomes wasn’t just entering his prime, which didn’t just result in five touchdowns in his very first game.

 He kept going off by throwing for over 5,000 yards and 41 touchdowns to lead the league, carrying the Chiefs to 14 and 3 and the number one seed. So, while Rodgers finished 8 and 9, missed the Pro Bowl, and the playoffs, which ended up being his final year in Green Bay, Mahomes won another ring and basically carved his own face under the QB Mount Rushmore, being starting to get compared to the goat himself, Tom Brady.

 So, there was no denying Mahomes was the clear best of 2022. But, this was the last year a quarterback was the best player, cuz the very next season introduced the world to a wild animal. Now, even though Joe Burrow was the NFL’s newest pretty boy, he became the highest-paid player in the league signing for 55 million.

 At first, it made sense cuz he was one of the most accurate passes the league had ever seen, already carried the sorry-ass Bengals to a Super Bowl, and had flashes this next season where he dominated while winning four games in a row against some of the top teams. Unfortunately,  though, after Burrow threw a touchdown pass during one game, he instantly grabbed his hand and was eventually taken out of the game.

 He tore a ligament in his wrist, which ended his season and opened the door for a different superstar. Tyreek Hill, aka the Cheetah, got his nickname cuz he didn’t run like a badass toddler or something, man. He just hit the different breed when it comes to speed. And being that fast had him racking up over 200 yards in the very first game.

Then, after that, he was going for 157, 181, 163, setting a record pace that nobody had ever seen. That wasn’t all though, cuz even after missing a game in week 15, he still led the entire league with nearly 1,800 yards and 13 touchdowns, turning Miami into one of the scariest offenses in the whole NFL. This was known as Tyreek’s best season of his career, while Burrow’s big year fell apart,  ending after just 10 games.

Anyways, Tyreek never slowed down, literally, making him easily the best player of the year. But this next season was way different, and it changed Madden video games forever. Now, that definitely wasn’t because of Trevor Lawrence, who was being paid 55 million a year and was the richest player.

 Cuz Trevor made the Jaguars look like idiots for paying him that much when he struggled so badly that the Jags not only lost their first four games, Goldilocks was throwing almost as many balls to the other team as he was to his own, and finished two and eight before his season ended from a nasty concussion.

 While that happened though, everybody else is making their case for best player. With Ja’Marr Chase balling out, Josh Allen dominating, and Saquon who was putting up one of the best seasons the position had ever seen. Saquon was different, cuz he wasn’t just going crazy week after week, including running all over Trevor’s Jaguars ironically.

 He eventually created a move that nobody had ever seen before, and was so crazy, it wasn’t just considered the best play of the year, it got put into the next Madden. Break one tackle and then >> Get off of that boy, man. Oh my goodness, bro. We literally recreated it. >> So while Lawrence couldn’t come close to being worth 55 million, Saquon had maybe the greatest rushing season of all time, pretty much winning the Eagles a Super Bowl on his own, and making him a lock for the best player of the year.

 But this final season involved more money than anybody in the video, and had one of the most confusing endings in NFL history. Now, even though the Cowboys haven’t done in like forever, Dak Prescott was set to earn more money in a year than anybody ever, $60 which is which is crazy cuz I mean they awarded him for basically winning two playoff games his entire career, has this embarrassing record, has always turned into more memes than I can count.

Regardless, even though Dak was living up to his $60 sack but throwing over 4,500 yards and 30 touchdowns, his Cowboys still lost a ton of games, got smacked by some of the worst teams in the league. And the most viral thing he did all year wasn’t even a throw, it was his goofy pre-game warm-up. So while Dak was basically heading nowhere, the most dominant player in the league was chasing history.

 Myles Garrett started by getting two sacks in the very first game, then five on the Patriots, four more on the Ravens, almost refusing to slow down while even getting double-teamed every single snap. All season long this dude turned into a monster while destroying every quarterback in his way, which is probably why he decorates his yard full of each player’s headstones for Halloween. This dude is psychotic.

 But once he started getting closer to a record that hadn’t been touched since 2001, the most sacks in a season, everything came down to the final game of the year where he did the unthinkable. Myles broke the most legendary record at his position, most sacks in one year by a player ever. And of course that helped him win Defensive Player of the Year.

 So many considered Myles the best player of the season, but I guess his own team didn’t cuz after that they just traded him away. Wow, the NFL’s going to look so different in the future and not just cuz of that, but because of a new stadium that’s letting a team cheat or another NFL stadium that’s being controlled by Donald Trump?
